Math Labs are video-based critical thinking activities. Each Math lab is a short video segment that encourages students to use their critical thinking skills to deepen their understanding of key concepts.

Each Math Lab comes with an accompanying worksheet that can be used for data gathering and answering critical thinking questions.

Math Lab 1: Exploring Slope

Students measure the slope of a staircase and investigate the case where it is easier to walk up a staircase in a zigzag manner.

### Exploring Slope

Math Lab 2: Exploring Linear Relationships

Students generate data for the height vs spray length for a column of water.

### Exploring Linear Relationships

Math Lab 3: Exploring Quadratic Functions

Students explore the role of “b” in the standard form of the quadratic function.

Students determine the descent of a space ship to the surface of the Moon by solving a quadratic equation.

Math Lab 5: Measuring Circles

Students compare the length and circumference of a canister of tennis balls, thereby comparing the circumference of a circle to three times its diameter.

### Measuring Circles

Math Lab 6: Exploring Binomial Expansion

Students use a geometric model to explore binomial expansion.

### Exploring Binomial Expansion

Math Lab 7: Exploring Compound Inequalities

Students use number lines to explore compound inequalities.

### Exploring Compound Inequalities

Math Lab 8: Exploring Linear Inequalities

Students identify four linear inequalities that make up a quadrilateral region.

### Exploring Linear Inequalities

Math Lab 9: Exploring Functions and Relations

Students use a visual model to explore functions and relations.

### Exploring Functions and Relations

Math Lab 10: Functional Data

Students use toothpicks to construct square shapes and generate data.

### Functional Data

Math Lab 11: Exploring Non-Linear Graphs

Students compare the graphs of 2^x and x^2. Note: a TI-Nspire graphing calculator is required.

### Exploring Non-Linear Graphs

Math Lab 12: Decreasing Exponential Functions

Students investigate cooling curves for coffee.

### Decreasing Exponential Functions

Math Lab 13: Probability

Students investigate the probability of getting two heads when tossing two coins.

### Probability

Math Lab 14: Regression Analysis

Students investigate different regression models to analyze population data.

### Regression Analysis

Math Lab 15: Break-Even Analysis

Students find the break-even point for a business based on sales and expenses.

### Break-Even Analysis

Math Lab 16: Non-Linear Systems

Students find the solution to a non-linear system.

### Non-Linear Systems

Math Lab 17: Exploring Rational Numbers

Students convert decimals to rational numbers.

### Exploring Rational Numbers

Math Lab 18: Exploring Rational Functions

Students investigate equivalent rational functions.

### Exploring Rational Functions
