Percent. The fractional part out of 100. Percents can be expressed as whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.

Percent Increase. The increase in a number expressed as a percent change. Use this formula to calculate percent increase.

Percent Decrease. The decrease in a number expressed as a percent change. Use this formula to calculate percent decrease.

Calculating Tips. For a given restaurant bill, applying a percentage to the bill to determine the tip.

Scale Drawing. A proportional figure that is usually a scaled-down version of a larger figure. A scale factor determines the relationship between the smaller and larger figures.

Irrational Number. A number that cannot be written as a rational number.

Cube Root. A number, which when multiplied by itself three times, equals another number. Cube roots can be written using a radical symbol or a rational exponent.

Square Root. A number, which when multiplied by itself, equals another number. Square roots can be written using a radical symbol or a rational exponent.
