Ratio. The relationship between two numbers, represented as a quotient. The numbers in the ratio must have the same units of measurement or represent similar quantities.

Ratio and Slope. The slope of a line is the ratio of the change in y-coordinates to the change in x-coordinates.

Rate. A ratio that compares two different types of quantities. The resulting unit of measurement is based on the individual quantities.

Unit Rate. A rate expressed as a ratio with 1 in the denominator or sometimes as a decimal.

Equivalent Ratios. Two ratios that are numerically equal to each other.

Converting Units. Taking a rate expressed in one type of units, multiplying by a conversion factor, to find the rate in another set of units.

Linear Function. A function of the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept.
