Definition
A polygon is a closed two-dimensional shape made up of three or more straight sides.
Description
Polygons play a central role in geometry. They can be classified into regular and irregular based on side lengths and angles. The sum of the interior angles can be calculated using the formula
(n − 2) × 180
where n is the number of sides. For example, a hexagon has six sides and an interior angle sum of 720 degrees. Understanding polygons is crucial for solving complex geometric problems and applying them in real life, including architectural design and animation.
