Conic Sections: Example 23

Conic Sections: Example 23

Topic

Quadratics

Description

This example shows an ellipse with its center at the origin. The general equation of an ellipse is ((x)²/a²) + ((y)²/b²) = 1, where (h,k) is the center and a and b are the lengths of the semi-major and semi-minor axes. In this case, the ellipse is vertically oriented with its center at the origin. The specific equation might be something like ((x)²/9) + ((y)²/25) = 1.
